I’ll have to go back and find the first book in the series, Holding the Cards, 1, as I’m curious if Hill is just that good. In some respects this was too easy cops-wise, and yet, Hill’s exploration of how norms see the D/s lifestyle and her buildup of Mac and Violet’s relationship was brilliant. I also loved how she treated Violet Siemanski as the Mistress who delves into the emotional aspects of his sexual preferences and what it is that Mac truly desires. It’s the first time I’ve read a story on BDSM which features an alpha male as the submissive, and Hill did an excellent job of convincing me of both his alpha qualities AND his desire to submit. I borrowed this eBook from the library and the moving process has screwed up my being able to do a proper review, so I’ll simply provide what basics I can from my memory. This story focuses on two cops: one’s a city detective who happens to be a submissive who volunteers to go undercover at a BDSM club while the other is with the state police and a natural mistress. Second in the Nature of Desire erotic romantic suspense series. Explore it on Goodreads or Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo Natural Law in eBook edition on Maand has 318 pages. It isn’t really a thriller, though there are some thriller aspects. Review: Fair warning - this is going to be a difficult one for me to review, both because we are spoiler-free and because even though I’ve been thinking about it since I started it, I’m not sure how to classify it. Not that anyone was ever in a good mood on a Friday morning, but… the man glaring at me was always in a bad mood when he wore white. When I had seen him that morning bent over the opened hood of an early 1950’s GMC truck, a hint of a white compression shirt showing beneath his coveralls, I’d known he was in a bad mood to begin with. Who was I kidding? I would have bet all of my money that was exactly why. If I had to guess why I was the lucky winner of that mouth being turned down, it might have been because I’d had my eyes closed for… I glanced at my old but faithful G-Shock watch… the last twenty minutes. Books and audible in general have helped us as a family to avoid DVD players and video games in the car, which is something that I'm quite proud of. My kids are three and five, and aren't generally captivated by lengthy stories, but I plan to play this on our next road trip, when they do seem to last a bit longer with their attention span. Motown’s music-publishing company, Jobete, took fifty per cent of the song’s copyright. Together, they created “Let’s Get It On.” Gaye, who was suffering from writer’s block after the huge success of “What’s Going On,” for Motown Records, in 1971, heard his friend’s song as a hymn to sex. “I’ve been really tryin’ baby, tryin’ to hold back this feeling for so long” was one of the lines. Townsend, then forty-three, had recently been released from rehab, and the song was a plea to a higher power to help him stay sober. Sitting at the piano, Townsend played a four-chord progression in the key of E-flat major while singing a melody that harked back to his doo-wop days. superstar Marvin Gaye, to his home in Los Angeles, to hear some new tunes.
